Before he came to Bellwether, Blake had already spent enough time in the managed service provider (MSP) world to know that some days pushed the limits of what a fast-paced job should feel like. So when he stepped into his role as a Project Engineer, he was hopeful that this time would be different, but realistic about what MSP work often demanded.
From his first days on the team, it was clear that Bellwether wasn’t just another MSP. The difference showed up right away in the way people worked, the clarity of the processes, and the calm that came with knowing what to expect.
Stable Systems and Strong Teams
What stood out right away to Blake was Bellwether’s sense of order. The pace was still brisk, but the chaos was missing. Processes weren’t just on paper. They were part of how the team worked, guiding decisions and keeping workflows moving. Instead of reacting to issues as they popped up, teams were ready for what came next, even when it was a challenge they had never faced before.
“You can tell that Bellwether is a mature company because they have processes in place to deal with almost everything that can be encountered,” explained Blake. “And even though they’re a mature company, they want to be better.”
That foundation of stability, which comes from clearly defined processes and a shared way of working, makes it easier for teams to collaborate and solve problems together. For Blake, the maturity of Bellwether’s operations, combined with a team that truly works together, creates a sense of momentum without the burnout.
Curiosity That Powers Client Results
In addition to the way Bellwether operates, Blake appreciates how continuous learning is encouraged and supported. Early in his career, he realized that working in IT meant staying curious and open to change. At Bellwether, his professional development is supported with resources and with opportunities that challenge his knowledge and skills.
As a Project Engineer, he’s often one of the first to get hands-on experience with new technologies, testing and deploying them to help clients improve their operations. That constant exposure means he’s always learning, and he gets a front-row seat to the impact those solutions have. Seeing how his work makes a difference for clients is deeply rewarding. It’s what keeps the job interesting day after day.
“I get to work on technologies that help our clients,” Blake said. “Whether it’s streamlining business processes, introducing a new application to eliminate technical debt, or implementing a security tool to improve their posture, my focus is always on helping clients get the outcome they want.”
Curious Teen to Skilled Engineer
Blake’s passion for tech started back in high school, long before he knew where it would take him. He and a friend used to modify flip phones, just for fun. Around the same time, he helped out with basic IT at his grandfather’s business. That’s when he first crossed paths with Bellwether, and with Rodney who is the Professional Services Manager.
Back then, Rodney handled the complex IT work while Blake focused on smaller tasks like password resets and printer issues. The things Rodney could do with technology made it seem like he was watching a wizard at work. It sparked a curiosity that stuck with Blake for years.
“I had high respect for Bellwether in general, and specifically for Rodney,” said Blake. “I kept tabs on Bellwether for a long time, and when I had an opportunity to work here, I took it.”
Years later, Blake not only joined Bellwether but found himself working directly under the supervision of the person who had sparked his interest in tech all those years ago. The respect has proven mutual.
“Blake is the person who always steps up, no matter the challenge,” Rodney said. “Whether it’s offering support to a teammate, solving a tricky problem, or taking initiative on a new project, Blake is known for being dependable, proactive, and ready to make things happen.”
Structure Supports Great Work
For Blake, structure is what makes fast-paced work manageable. Clear processes and a supportive team give him the space to focus, solve problems, and keep learning. That kind of environment is no accident. Bellwether puts intentional systems in place so employees can do great work and supports their individual learning paths
